GROVE CITY, Pa. - Downtown Grove City looked more like a Hollywood studio Thursday night.

With "It's A Wonderful Life" advertised outside the Guthrie Theater, red bows tied to each light post, and "Merry Christmas" posted outside a church sign, you might have found yourself getting into the holiday spirit.

And that would be the idea come November when the movie "The Happiest Season" is set to be released.

"Happiest Season" is a romantic comedy that follows a young woman planning to propose to her girlfriend at her family's holiday party. However, she didn't come out to her conservative parents.

"I'm really excited about it. It's something new that hasn't really been done here. I honestly think it's one of the most exciting things we've had here in a long time," said Amanda Keating, a senior at Grove City High School.

The entire holiday movie isn't being filmed in downtown Grove City, but some parts feature the downtown area, including the Guthrie Theater and Nonni's Corner Italian Restaurant.

"May bring some tourism or stuff like that to this area, would be nice," said Brian Snyder, who traveled from Butler to see the filming in person.

Starring in the film are some names you might recognize, like Kristen Stewart from Twilight and Alison Brie, who stars as Ruth Wilder on the Netflix series GLOW.

And yes, fans were stopping by just in hopes of catching a glimpse.

"I follow Kristen Stewart and Aubrey Plaza. They're two of my favorite actresses of all time, so that's one of the main reasons I'm down here," said Keating.

Others got a chance to be extras in the movie. And those who didn't, but still have an interest in the arts, thought the whole experience was pretty neat to watch.

"Just a lot of the big machinery they have like moving around is kind of cool to see since that's not something I've ever seen before," said Reece Grucza. "We don't really get anything like that around here because it's such a small place. There's not really many big-name people around, so to have some big-name people show up here is really exciting for us."
