SALEM, Ohio - As part of its preparedness planning, Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is temporarily closing its SRMC Primary Care – Damascus practice effective Tuesday, March 17.

This will enable SRMC to more efficiently utilize its primary care staff to care for future patients during the nation’s coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

During this temporary closure, the physicians based in Damascus will be relocated to SRMC’s other primary care office locations listed below. 

SRMC Primary Care-Lisbon: 38506 Saltwell Road in Lisbon, 330-424-1404

SRMC Internal Medicine Center: 2020 East State Street, Suite C, in Salem, 330-332-7807

Columbiana Family Care Center: 116 Carriage Drive at Firestone Farms TownCenter in Columbiana, 330-482-3871

Patients with appointments scheduled in Damascus on or after March 17 will be contacted by the Damascus office staff to reschedule their appointments on an as-needed basis.

Those wishing to continue their care during this temporary closure, including patients seeking care for minor illnesses or injuries, are encouraged to schedule appointments at one of SRMC’s other primary care practice locations listed above.

Meanwhile, patients experiencing flu or respiratory symptoms, including fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or who have a risk of exposure based on the CDC’s coronavirus screening criteria may be seen at a special clinic beginning Wednesday, March 18.

The Acute Flu & Coronavirus Clinic will be open Monday-Friday, from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and accessible through SRMC’s Surgery Center entrance.

No appointments are needed, and the Clinic is available to any area patient who is exhibiting symptoms of a respiratory infection.

The provider evaluating the Clinic patients will determine if any testing is necessary, including COVID-19 testing.

Please note that COVID-19 testing is not available at this site for those who do not have symptoms.

Patients visiting the Clinic should enter the Hospital campus from Pershing Street and park in the outpatient surgery parking lot at the east end of the campus.

All patients visiting the Clinic should enter through the Surgery Center entrance.

Patients experiencing significant symptoms of the coronavirus-19 should go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.
