WARREN, Ohio - Despite closings and other coronavirus precautions taken by some government offices in the Valley, Trumbull County Children Services is assuring clients that it is still in business.

A media release from Trumbull County Children Services says that although they are following suggested guidelines to ensure the safety of staff, foster families, and children under their care, they are maintaining their core services.

Those services include emergency response, foster care, residential treatment, supporting in-home services, as well as intake and assessment.

The release says all meetings, and most visits, have been converted to digital face-to-face communications.  Children Services staff has been prohibited from traveling out of the county.

Most of the staff have been assigned to work “in the field” with managers working from the office to coordinate efforts, according to the release.

Meanwhile, referral lines are being staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Additional duties still being pursued include:

  • Completing legally mandated assessments and contacts within the required guidelines
  • Offering voluntary supportive services to children and families
  • Maintaining required contacts with the children in TCSB custody and the families they serve
  • In communication and coordination with foster caregivers
  • Recruiting, training, and licensing potential foster families
  • Seeking alternative caregivers, who can support existing foster families
