Canfield resident encourages 'social distance' Easter egg hunt

CANFIELD, Ohio - Signs of spring, pastel colors, bunnies, and more are popping up on porches across our Valley. With schools closed and most events canceled, some communities are finding creative ways to keep kids engaged while maintaining social distance.
In Canfield, resident Felisa Vogrin suggested doing an Easter egg hunt as a way to brighten up the neighborhoods and help people stay active.
"My son is in second grade, and he has been disappointed in not seeing his friends and also disappointed that he couldn't look forward to an egg hunt, so I wanted to come up with a way kids could do a fun event, but still maintain social distance."
From April 10-19, the community of Canfield is invited to decorate and place a poster paper Easter egg in a window facing the street! Vogrin says, "Make it fun! Get creative! If you make it a special theme, post it on Facebook at the event site: https://facebook.com/events/s/community-easter-egg-hunt-walk or search "Community Easter Egg Hunt Walk."
The event invitation says while families are going on walks, they can "hunt" for eggs on individual doors and windows. Then, the community is invited to leave comments on the Facebook page about certain eggs they were able to find and eggs they loved.
The invite reminds people to "keep a safe distance from others when encountering others out for walks. Please spread the word and share; the more people participating, the more fun it will be."
Vogrin went on to say, "My son shared it with his class in Canfield on Google classroom, and the kids were excited. I also think it will be a great way for the people who cannot go out to still be able to wave at the kids walking by with their individual families."
