The United States Postal Service continues to operate throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and is reminding people that they are following CDC strategies to keep everyone safe.

According to a release from USPS, they have changed some procedures and routes to help keep employees and the public safe and healthy.

USPS says they are adopting measures to maintain social distancing while delivering packages and mail to those in the community.

Mail carriers will be knocking on doors instead of touching doorbells if a package needs a signature. They will also not have those receiving packages sign but will ask for a name instead to keep distance from the receiver.

The postal service is asking that customers no longer approach carriers to grab a package from them.

USPS also plays an important role in getting PPE and cleaning products to more than 30,000 locations every day.

The organization says they have also added social distancing into their workplace along with signage and cough and sneeze 'barriers' to lower contact between employees
