Giant Eagle puts halt to Niles location repackaging toilet paper
Concerned residents called the 21 Newsroom Friday night to tell us that the Niles Giant Eagle was repackaging toilet paper in different quantities and putting it on the shelves to sell.
21 News reached out to Giant Eagle who said this location is independently owned, and they do not endorse this practice.
A corporate spokesperson released the following statement:
The safety and well-being of our Team Members and guests is paramount. While we appreciate good intentions of the independent owner of the Niles Giant Eagle, this is nevertheless not a practice that our company endorses. We were pleased to learn that the store has since removed all affected product from store shelves, and will not be repeating this practice.
Giant Eagle said the store's intention was to ensure availability for as many guests as possible, and the product is being safely discarded.
