Second Harvest Food bank distribution tomorrow

Due to these unprecedented times, organizations like Second Harvest Food Bank, is teaming up with the National Guard to distribute food to those in need.
"Tomorrow we're getting ready for distribution at the Canfield Fairgrounds.", says Michael Iberis, executive director of the Food bank in Mahoning Valley.
All in effort to eliminate hunger around the valley.
"We'll be having produce, as well as Milk and other things of that nature.", he added.
One of the big goals, is to reach people in more rural communities.
"We think that this traveling pantry program that we're kicking off tomorrow, is going to reach people in more desolate areas." says Iberis
As a result of this pandemic, the demand for food is rising
"Our member agencies have been experiencing a 30-percent increase in the number of people coming to them for food assistance, which is thousands of more people each and every week." says Becky Miller, Special Events Coordinator at the Food Bank.
Which in turn, takes a toll on supply
"Typically we have around 1.5 million pounds of food here at the warehouse, ready to be distributed. Right now we have about half of that." Iberis says.
Regardless the hope is that this new program will make a huge difference.
"These pop up distribution centers are a perfect way to alleviate some of that need and put the community's mind at ease." Miller added.
Iberis adds that the easiest way to help out the Food Bank are through monetary donations.
