Boardman Kiwanis cancels Memorial Day Parade

BOARDMAN, Ohio - Kiwanis Club of Boardman announced it is canceling the 116th Annual Memorial Day Parade and Service, which was scheduled for May 25, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic. In a press release, Kiwanis Club said the following:
"Those we honor on Memorial Day served, are serving or gave the ultimate sacrifice while in service to our country. Today, we are all asked to serve our country by following one order that has been given to us to 'Stay Home.' Although canceling our Parade and Service is a difficult decision, it is the right thing to do at this time."
"We would like to thank and recognize everyone who makes this Parade a success – the USAF, ODOT, Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene, Mahoning County Engineer Patrick Ginnetti, Boardman Local School District, Boardman Park Commissioners, Boardman Township Trustees, Boardman Police Department, Boardman Fire Department, Boardman Road Department, our many volunteers, and our spectators! We are truly humbled by the public interest and dedication that so many have for our cherished Parade and Service."
Kiwanis Club looks forward to seeing everyone at the 117th Memorial Day Parade and Service on Monday, May 31, 2021.
