An Astronaut with ties to the Valley has been orbiting in Space since July.

Andrew Morgan is now making his descent back to planet Earth.

His father lives in Neshannock Township.

"We are going to be very excited to see him land and see him come out of that capsule," said Richard Morgan of Neshannock Township.

He will be watching on NASA TV.

Morgan has spent 9 months at the International Space Station and Thursday he boarded the capsule to travel back to planet Earth.

He'll make his return with two other astronauts landing in Central Asia really early Friday morning.

His father said he completed seven space walks and has spent over 40 hours out in space.

"Those are very complicated maneuvers and it requires a lot of time for preparation and actually execution of those. So that has been a large part of what he has done. He has also participated in many scientific experiments."

Morgan talks about some of those experiences on his Twitter feed, @AstroDrewMorgan.

But, he will make his return to Earth during a time where it almost feels like we're the ones living on a different planet.

With the coronavirus pandemic in full force, Morgan will have to be quarantined for some.

"He has been isolated for well over eight months, nine months and he was looking forward to being with family and friends. But  it's looking like he is going to be isolated for a little longer.

The crew will get into Huston, Texas Friday.

Morgan will be welcomed home by his wife and four children.
