Lordstown Motors delays launch again due to coronavirus

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Lordstown Motors Corporation has delayed the launch of its new electric pickup truck by another month due to slowdowns caused by the coronavirus across the country.
Previously, the company had pushed the launch back by a month so that vehicles would be delivered in December 2020. Those deliveries are now planned for January of 2021.
In a letter from LMC CEO Steve Burns said he still plans to debut the truck sometime in early summer. The debut had originally been slated to happen at the Detroit Auto Show, but that event, like many others around the country, has now been canceled.
Burns said the unveiling now will likely be a virtual event that will be held from headquarters in Lordstown.
"Like most companies, the pandemic has caused us to tweak our plans. However, it has dramatically strengthened our conviction and enthusiasm to bring the Endurance to market as soon as humanly possible. Strangely, this clarity probably could not have come to us without the world actually coming to a standstill, and the modern world does not often come to a standstill," Burns wrote in the letter.
Burns referred in the letter to satellite images that indicate far less air pollution with fewer cars on the road, saying this is evidence that the company's efforts to market electric vehicles is more important than ever.
