HARRISBURG, Pa. - The number of cases of the coronavirus in Pennsylvania have now reached 38,652, with 1,492 deaths.

That number is an increase of 1,599 from the previous day, however the growth remains concentrated in certain counties closer to New York, which has been the national epicenter for the disease.

In the western part of the state, Mercer county has 64 cases of the virus, with one death. It's been more than a week since that death was recorded.

In Lawrence county there are 61 cases, with five deaths.

Pennsylvania health secretary Dr. Rachel Levine continues to caution PA residents against relaxing social distancing efforts, as the state works to slowly reopen its economy while trying to slow the growth of the disease.
