Confirmed coronavirus cases in Ohio reach 15,699 as state prepares to reopen

As Governor Mike DeWine prepares to gradually reopen Ohio, cases of coronavirus continue to rise throughout the state and in the Valley.
As of Monday's briefing, confirmed coronavirus cases in Ohio are 15,699. When using the expanded CDC definition that includes rapid testing and those who have symptoms, that total becomes 16,325.
That's an increase of 339 confirmed cases, an indication that the rate at which the virus is spreading in the state continues to slow.
Five days ago, there were 577 new cases and that rate of growth has continued to fall steadily since then.

Confirmed deaths in the state have increased to 712 which is increased to 753 when using the CDC definition.
Locally the cases continue to rise slowly with Mahoning County having 764 cases along with 234 hospitalizations. There have been 27 reported deaths.
Trumbull County has 295 cases, 113 hospitalizations and 27 deaths.
Columbiana County reported 228 cases, 93 hospitalizations and 20 deaths. A large portion of Columbiana County's cases are due to the virus outbreak at FCI Elkton.
