Ohio Governor Mike DeWine  said customers going into retail stores are not required to wear a mask, but its recommended.

"We made a decision that for retail customers a mandatory mask is not required, however it's a strong recommendation," stated DeWine.

The Governor said although its not a mandate, its clearly in the best interest for Ohioans to wear a mask in retail settings, giving added protection to others.

"When you wear a mask, you are protecting those around you from possibly getting sick." said DeWine.

The Governor said its up to business owner to decide whether they'll serve customers who are not wearing a facial covering.

The Governor is putting together two groups  to look at the opening of restaurants, barber shops and hair salons.

The groups, which will include health department officials will look at ways to gradually open these businesses.

Lt. Governor Jon Husted did not specify when those businesses would open.

Director of Health Dr.Amy Acton says the state has 16,769 cases of the coronavirus. Deaths increased by 46 in the last day to 799, and all of Ohio's 88 counties have at least one case.

Dr. Acton says 16 percent of all the cases are health care workers.

Dr. Acton recommends if you're returning to work and the building has been idle it's a good idea to flush pipes, change airflow to bring in air from outside and open windows.

With graduation season coming up Governor DeWine says schools can do ceremonies as long as social distancing is observed.

"The state department of education put out recommendations based on our orders, so a school will have to  creative as long as they observe the rules."
