Six weeks after being postponed due to coronavirus concerns, Ohio has held its primary election where most voters cast their ballot by mail. 

As unofficial results come in, the race for the November general election is shaping up.

For the U.S. Representative for the 13th District, Democratic incumbent Tim Ryan ran unopposed and will be facing off against Republican nominee Christina Hagan, who received more than 60 percent of the vote.

Hagan is a former member of the Ohio House of Representatives for Ohio's 50th District from 2011 to 2018.

In the race for the U.S. Representative for the 6th District, Republican nominee and incumbent Bill Johnson received more than 80 percent of the vote beating out Kenneth Morgan. 

Johnson will be facing off against Shawna Roberts who ran unopposed for the 6th District Democratic party.

Johnson released the following statement:

"This election has been unlike any other in Ohio's history. While it has been a challenge, I'm pleased that Ohioans had a way to safely have their voices heard. I'm extremely honored to again be chosen by Republicans in Eastern and Southeastern Ohio to be the party's nominee to represent Ohio's 6th Congressional District. My campaign team will now turn its attention to November's General Election, but right now I'm focused on the more immediate work of finding bipartisan solutions to address the Coronavirus pandemic, and to address the economic needs of Ohio and our country."

Looking to the race for U.S. Representative for the 14th District, Republican and Incumbent David Joyce secured more than 80 percent of the vote beating out Mark Pitrone.

Joyce will be running against Democratic nominee Hillary O'Connor Mueri in the November election.

Moving to the race for the Ohio 32nd District seat, Incumbent Democrat Sean O'Brien will be running against Republican Sandra O'Brien who received 69 percent of the vote, winning 31,095 votes.

Incumbent Gill Blair won the Democratic race for the Ohio State Representative for the 63rd District. The Democrat representative secured 7,826 votes beating out Democratic challengers Barry Profato with 2,826 votes and Werner Lange with 546 votes. 

State rep. Blair will face Republican Mike Loychik in November.

The race for Trumbull County Engineer saw incumbent Randy Smith secure the spot receiving 13,887 votes while his opponent DAVID DECHRISTOFARO received 8,016 votes. There is no Republican candidate in this race.

Incumbent Dan Polivka will be running against Republican Niki Frenchko for Trumbull County Commissioner.

Polivka with 63 percent of the vote beat out David Guarino and Carl Clemens for his respective spot and Frenchko with 61 percent of the vote got the spot over her opponent Rex Fee. 

Looking at area school issues multiple districts had levies on the ballot.

Liberty Schools was asking for a $2.5 million improvement levy for the district. As of this writing, that levy is failing by a close margin, 1,310 against, 1,117 for the levy.

Southington schools is also failing at this point with 399 against and 311 for the school levy.

East Palestine, Southern Local, Hubbard, Mathews, Newton Falls and Poland all managed to pass school levies on the ballot Tuesday night.

The local boards of election will continue to tabulate ballots that were postmarked by Monday, April 27th. They will continue to tally those until May 8th. At that point, final results from this March primary will be known.
