Southern Park Mall details May 12 reopening plan

Another of the Valley’s shopping malls has announced plans to open again for business.
Washington Prime, which operates the Southern Park Mall in Boardman, said it will reopen on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
The mall shortened hours of operation in mid-March followed by a more expansive shutdown due to coronavirus precautions and Ohio’s Stay at Home Order, which halted in-store shopping.
The state’s extension of that order allows retailers to reopen on May 12 under social distancing and other precautions.
Mall owners say that although they plan to be open from 11:00 am–7:00 pm Monday through Saturday and 11:00 am–6:00 pm on Sunday, reopening dates for individual tenants may vary.
As far as the food court and other dine-in restaurants, Ohio health officials are expected this week to issue a timetable and guidelines for reopening.
A Code of Conduct will be in place which includes what Mall officials say are the following guidelines:
- Practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet (2 meters) from other people.
- Covering your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover is recommended.
- Do not gather in groups.
- Adhere to each individual tenant’s COVID-19 policies.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, recommendations, and mandates regarding COVID-19.
Owners say the mall will be disinfected and cleaned several times each day with a focus on areas most susceptible to the spread of germs.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer dispensers are in highly trafficked areas and walkways for public use.
