PA coronavirus cases rise by 1,078; death toll reaches 3,688

HARRISBURG, Pa. - As some counties move into the "yellow phase" of reopening, cases of the coronavirus continue to rise in Pennsylvania.
The state reported 55,316 cases Saturday, an increase of 1,078 since Friday's briefing.
3,688 deaths have been reported in the state. Many of these deaths have occurred in residents of nursing or personal care facilities.
A majority of cases have occurred in people 25 and older with hospitalizations prevalent in those over 50 years of age.
Lawrence and Mercer Counties were designated as "yellow phase" counties and the number of cases in those two areas remain relatively low.
There are 69 cases in Lawrence County and seven deaths while Mercer County has 73 cases and two deaths.
More than 850 people have tested negative for the virus in Lawrence County and 918 have tested negative in Mercer.
221,791 people have tested negative for the coronavirus throughout Pennsylvania.
