WARREN, Ohio - Seven Seventeen Credit Union, in an effort to provide much-needed support, reviewed multiple organizations that were making a local impact in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and made two $10,000 donations to those most deserving.

"Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley and Family and Community Services, Inc. have worked tirelessly to provide much-needed aid and relief to individuals struggling in our communities, and we felt that their efforts were most deserving," 7 17 President and CEO, Gary Soukenik said. "We felt that by providing them with much-needed funds, they would be able to continue to provide vital services."

The organizations were presented with their donations during socially distanced check presentations at 7 17's Corporate Operations Center in Warren on Thursday.

Both organizations have been working to address the hunger crisis in the area.

"Family and Community Services is on the front lines of the regional response to hunger, and in April, we distributed over 67,000 meals to families in need," said Mark Frisone, of Family and Community Services. "We thank 7 17 Credit Union for their generous contribution."

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley has seen a 40% increase in those they serve since the pandemic began.

"Every dollar donated can help distribute six meals, so this will be 60,000 meals, which is incredible," said Becky Page, director of development. "We are filling over 18,000 requests for emergency food assistance each week. This a very challenging time for everybody.
