LORDSTOWN, Ohio - We're getting our first look at the Lordstown battery plant, which is expected to bring 1,100 jobs to the area.

General Motors released a conceptual rendering of the Ultium Cells LLC  battery cell manufacturing facility.

It's a joint venture between GM and LG Chem to build batteries for electric vehicles. The plant will be located at  Tod Avenue Southwest, right behind the Lordstown Motors plant.

On Monday, the Lordstown Village Planning Commission approved the battery cell plant’s site plan. It's the final permit required before concrete can be poured and underground piping can be installed. The permit locates the building on the site, sizes parking lots and road connections among other things, GM spokesperson Dan Flores said.

He adds the work is moving forward as scheduled for the $2.3 billion project.
