An East Palestine man who's accused of seriously hurting a child pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.

Steven Wright, 24, was arraigned via video Tuesday after he was indicted by a Mahoning County Grand Jury on charges of endangering children and obstructing official business.

His bond was set at $40,000, and he can not have any contact with the alleged victim.

Boardman police said the incident involved a two-month-old child.

According to a police report from November 2, 2019, the child was brought to Akron Children's Hospital Boardman Campus unconscious and not breathing with no pulse. Initial CPR was done, and the child was intubated for life support. Officials say the child had bleeding from the brain, adding that this type of injury is "non-accidental trauma," the report stated.

The report went on to say that Wright told police the two month old went unconscious while he was holding the child.

A jury trial is set for July 27.
