Ohio State Fair cancelled, could Canfield Fair be next?

Yet another big-name event in Ohio has fallen victim to COVID-19 concerns for the summer of 2020.
The Ohio State Fair announced on its Facebook page Thursday the Ohio Expositions Commission voted to cancel the fair, in effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The fair was set to take place July 29 through August 9.
According to the Ohio State Fair's Facebook page, this decision has been weighted heavily.
"The Ohio State Fair's management team, as well as the Ohio Expositions Commission, have been carefully evaluating all available information from state and local health officials, as well as the financial feasibility of a reduced capacity fair, over the last several weeks. Today, the Ohio Expositions Commission voted to cancel the Ohio State Fair in effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the Fair for future generations."
The Ohio State Fair also announced will, "celebrate agriculture and our great state at a distance, with a collection of educational digital content and sharing some of your favorite memories on social media." More information regarding social media plans will be announced in the near future.
This comes as Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is expected to release more information regarding state fairs in the coming days. DeWine will hold a press conference today, beginning at 2 p.m on WFMJ and is streamed on 21 WFMJ's Facebook page, as well as the 21 News app.
Locally, thousands are wondering whether or not the Canfield Fair, which is currently scheduled for Sept. 2 through Sept. 7, will proceed despite COVID-19 concerns, in light of one of the largest fairs in the state pulling the plug. As of now, there have been no new developments with the Canfield Fair, and it's still on schedule.
Bergen Giordani, marketing and sponsorship coordinator with the Canfield Fair told 21 News, "We are continuing to move forward unless directed otherwise by the governor. We are fortunate to have a great working relationship with the [Ohio} Board of Health and are in communication with them for viable operating procedures to keep our community healthy."
