Brookfield Schools to upgrade district facilities, add LED lighting

BROOKFIELD, OH – On Wednesday, May 20, the Brookfield Board of Education voted unanimously on an agreement with Plug Smart which allows the district to upgrade its facilities while saving money on utilities.
The upgrades involve installing LED lighting throughout the district, including the high school gym and football stadium. “This would allow the soccer team to play some games under the lights, something that has never been done before,” said Toby Gibson, Superintendent of Brookfield Local Schools. Control upgrades, installing splits and water conservation are also a part of the project.
The upgrades will reduce the total energy used throughout the district to 14.1% and reduce annual utility spend by 28.5%. Over the next 20 years, the upgrades are projected to save the district over $1 Million.
The district plans to get started on the upgrades to facilities as soon as possible.
