Local horse jockey hospitalized after accident at Mountaineer

Local horse jockey Luis Quinones of Poland is in St. Elizabeth's Hospital after a horrific accident at Mountaineer Park Tuesday night.
Quinones has a broken hip and pelvis and is scheduled for surgery Thursday.
The jockey was aboard the horse, Shared Silence when she suffered a catastrophic injury down the stretch throwing Quinones to the track.
He was first taken to East Liverpool City hospital before being transferred to Youngstown.
In February, Quinones was named the recipient of the George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award that honors those who careers and personal character earn esteem for the individual and sport of thoroughbred racing.
