YOUNGSTOWN - Easy Street Productions on Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown has been conducting children's workshops for years, and this summer, they're doing it virtually on Zoom.

"We tried this new format and launched our Little Rascal Workshops Online with Maureen Collins, and thankfully because Maureen has such a big personality, it transfers through the computer screen, and the kids have a blast," Todd Hancock, Co-founder of Easy Street Productions, said.

Collins said she found the online workshop allows kids to be more expressive.

The workshops this summer will be virtual vacation trips around the United States and the world, using Zoom to create virtual backgrounds.

"I'm so excited... Since we can't get out of here this summer, why not go virtually?" Collins said.

The United States tour is starting on June 13 and will be a six-week road trip, including stops from New York to California.

Collins will be teaching songs that relate to each destination. Kids will have the opportunity to dress up and join each week for a fun, learning atmosphere. The kids will also learn choreography ranging from Broadway to country line dancing.

"The kids are going to learn some things. We'll be asking them to do some things at home during the week," Collins said. "We call it homework, but it's fun work."

Each session leads up to a live-recorded performance by the end of the virtual trip.

The second session, which is the virtual world tour,  begins on July 25.

The workshops take place Saturday mornings.
