Police investigating after driver strikes crowd of protesters in Farrell

FARRELL, Pa. - An investigation is underway after a driver went through a crowd of protesters in Farrell Friday night.
The group was on the road demonstrating after George Floyd's death in Minneapolis when the driver drove through the crowd.
The scene was all caught on cell phone video and Facebook Live around 6:45 p.m. right in front of the Golden Dawn.
In one video taken of the incident, protesters are seen trying to stop the car with one woman laying on the hood.
21 News spoke with one of the protesters there on what they saw.
"In what world do you just run over people just because you want to?" said Michaela Thomas. "It would have been very bad if somebody would have died there."
Eventually, the car stopped and was surrounded by protesters and Farrell police.
The female driver was taken out of her car and escorted to a police cruiser.
According to the police chief, she has not been arrested or charged, but that could change pending the police report and ongoing investigation.
The group of protesters are now camped out in front of the police station and said they won't leave until justice is served.
"There are people who are now in the hospital due to the incident, so we plan on being here all night, back tomorrow until some charges are filed against her," said Thomas.
Another protester who was injured said at least five people went to the hospital with injuries that were not characterized as life-threatening.
Farrell police are asking that anyone who has video of the incident to email them to b.prescott@cityoffarrell.com and police@cityoffarrell.com.
