Tornado causes severe damage, power outages in Leetonia

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado struck down in Leetonia Wednesday night that caused severe weather damage in the area.
Lori Hum, a Leetonia resident says the tornado hit shortly after warning notifications arrived.
"Our alarms went off on our phones and we went to the basement," she said. "It went 'whomp,' like something big fell and then the lights went off and it just hit."
State Route 14, Walnut Street and Washington Street had some of the worst damage as trees snapped electric and cable lines.
As of Thursday afternoon, residents are saying they are still without electric and cable. They're also concerned about the timeline it will take to clean up the mess the powerful storm left behind.
"We don't have electric, we don't have cable," Hum added. "We haven't since 9 o'clock last night (Wednesday). And nobody out yet."
David Slagle, who also lives in Leetonia says since nobody has been out yet, he has to go get his own power source.
"What I was told was 11 o'clock tomorrow (Friday) evening. So since we cleaned up the yard now I'm headed to go buy a generator so it's a few hundred dollars I wasn't planning on spending."
