Noah's Lost Ark Exotic Sanctuary seeks donations after freezer breaks

Noah's Lost Ark Exotic Animal Rescue Sanctuary in Berlin Center is seeking help or donations after over $5,500 worth of meat for the animals had to be thrown out. A faulty wire in a large food-storage freezer shorted out, causing it to go warm and the meat to go bad. The next day, the meat was covered in flies and had to be taken away.
With over 35 big cats to feed, including lions, tigers, cougars and leopards, a quick solution is needed as much of the meat was for the elderly and special-needs cats. These special types of meats are shipped in from Nebraska and are crucial for the digestive systems of some of the big cats. While more food is on the way, storage for it is now a problem.
Noah's Lost Ark Director Ellen Karnofel says the sanctuary is already struggling from being closed due to the coronavirus, and it could really use some help from those who have visited.
"We could greatly use a used freezer or donations to help us find a used freezer if anyone knows of one out there," she said. "We're taking a really huge hit this year not being able to open and it costs us so much money to run the facility and to feed the animals."
To get in contact with Noah's Lost Ark, readers can log onto its Facebook Page. Donations can be made through PayPal on the sanctuary's website.
"We just want to make sure that [these animals] are always taken care of properly," Karnofel added.
Noah's Lost Ark Exotic Animal Rescue Sanctuary has been around since 1998 and has cared for and displayed numerous big cats, horses, and even turtles for visitors that pass through.
