MAHONING TWP., Lawrence Co., Pa. -  Drivers using Route 224 in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania may experience some delays or closures for the next few months.

PennDOT announced it would begin improvement work on nearly five miles of Route 224 in Mahoning and Union townships starting Monday, June 15, 2020.

Single-lane alternating traffic will be controlled by flaggers on the two-lane section of Route 224 between I-376 in Union Township and Carbon Micco Road in Mahoning Township.

There will be lane and turning lane restrictions near the I-376 interchange.

Work is scheduled to take place daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through mid-October.

In addition, there will be two-weekend closures with detours on the $6.15 million project. The closures have not been scheduled to date. Information will be provided in advance of the closures.

Improvement work includes milling and paving, base repairs, drainage improvements, guide rail updates, traffic signal upgrades, minor structure work, highway lighting improvements, sign updates, pavement marking installation, and other miscellaneous construction activities.
