NILES, Ohio -  An early morning alarm brought firefighters to a home in Niles on Tuesday.

Crews called out at around 4 a.m. found smoke coming from the roof of a home on 17 Williams Street NE.

The fire department closed streets in the area because fire hoses needed to be stretched from the corner of Arlington Avenue to the dead-end of Wiliams Street.

Although a rescue squad was called out, people living in the home got out unharmed.

However, a family dog has been taken to a veterinarian.

The Red Cross has been contacted to help three adults and four children find a place to stay.
