Youngstown Water Dept. to resume disconnection of service for non-payment

The Youngstown Water Department is ending its moratorium on water utility shut-offs for non-payment on July 20.
In the letter from Harry Johnson III, the Youngstown Water Commissioner stated: "As the city continues to re-open amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Youngstown Water Department (YWD) wants to notify you that effective July 20, 2020, we will resume our standard collections procedures that include disconnection for nonpayment."
For those needing to pay their water bills at the YWD downtown office, it has limited access for the public and the department will follow the CDC’s recommended guidelines to keep our employees safe, including all workers will have their temperature taken upon entering the building, all workers are required to have a face masks and practice social distancing and workers will sanitize and disinfect shared services frequently.
Customers are encouraged to wear masks or facial coverings, wash/sanitize your hands before coming to the Water Dept., and stay at home if you are feeling sick. To ensure customer safety, we will limit the number of customers to a maximum of four people in the lobby at the same time, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
