NILES, Ohio - A familiar name in furniture is returning to the Valley as Levin Furniture has announced plans to open an outlet store at the Eastwood Mall Complex.

The new store will open later this month in the Howland Commons section of the mall complex, inside the former Gander Outdoor building near Kohl’s and Burlington, according to a media release.

The 61,000 square foot outlet store will be the first of a new concept for the Levin chain.  It will offer overstock merchandise from other Levin stores, with brands such as Ashley, Flexsteel, Lane, Serta, Stearns & Foster, Tempur-pedic, Sealy, and more.

A release from the company says the store will have more than $3 million of inventory from the recently closed Ohio Valley stores available for sale.

The Levin outlet is scheduled to open on July 23.

Levin, once one of the largest furniture retailers in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio encountered financial difficulties after it was purchased by investors and went bankrupt.  Stores in Boardman and Niles were closed.

This year, Robert Levin, grandson of the founders, re-purchased the chain, along with partners John and Matt Schultz.

The “new” Levin Furniture company currently operates 17 stores in the Cleveland and Pittsburgh areas, in addition to the soon-to-open Levin Furniture Outlet.

The company has hired 450 former associates back to work at the newly opened stores.

"Our customers and associates can once again have access to the quality and commitment of a family-owned business that offers a great place to furnish homes and to work. We are excited to bring back a century of high standards and caring for the communities we serve," said Robert Levin.

The Gander Outdoor store began a going-out-of-business sale late last year.
