Mahoning County Commissioners are announcing what will be done with money coming from the federal government coronavirus relief fund.

Also known as the CARES act, Mahoning County received $3,717,716.

The bulk of that money, nearly $1.7 million, will be spread throughout county deaprtment offices and boards to cover increased operation costs, things like PPE's and new equipment.

$325,000 will be given to the United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning County.

$750,000 was sent to Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corporation for small business relief.

Mental Health and Recovery Board $150,000

Mahoning County Board of Health $100,000

Food Drives $150,000

Catholic Charities $150,000

OSU Extension $200,000

Funds that are not used by the county would have to be sent back to the federal government.
