With an initial goal to raise $25,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown, The Greatest Day of Golf speed fundraiser event held at the Trumbull Country Club, raised that and much more.

Thirteen golfers from the Valley hit the course at 5:45 a.m. Monday morning, and didn't wrap-up until roughly 9:00 p.m. To raise money, pledges were made in the golfers' names, anywhere from 10 cents per hole, to over seven dollars per hole. The goal was to have each golfer play at least 120 holes. They exceeded that, too.

10 golfers played over 120 holes, and two hit the 200 mark, thus vastly increasing the amount of money raised through the event. Based on the amounts that were pledged to each golfer, the total amount earned would be slightly over $30,000. But, that is if everyone played 120 holes exactly, which most surpassed. A final number on how much was raised in total is expected later in the week at The Greatest Golfer website.

The stat of the day belonged to Youngstown State graduate and current assistant golf coach, Brandon Pluchinsky. He played a total of 168 holes and shot a very impressive 4-under. Pluchinsky also had the shortest round time of the day at 54 minutes.

Poland High School product Brian Velasquez played 205 holes, with a total pledge amount of $54.95 per hole, bringing in a total of $11,264.75 himself.

Hadley Spielvogel had the most holes played on the ladies side with a 110. She was 35-over for the day.

Todd Franko, president of The Greatest Golfer says those who participated did a great job enduring such a long day, for such a great reason.

"They are some golf course gorillas," he said. "They're used to being out long hours [at] high school practice and college practice. So they're used to long hours. That said, sunrise to sunset is something they've not done, and also sunrise to sunset with speed golf."

Individual statistics will be on The Greatest Golfer website on Tuesday. A list of golfers who participated in this first-time event, along with pledge amounts can be found here
