Ohio Governor DeWine said he is not in favor of repealing House Bill 6, which bailed out failing nuclear power plants and is connected to the multi-million dollar bribery scheme, involving House Speaker Larry Householder.

When DeWine was questioned about the scandal during Wednesday's coronavirus update in Columbus, the Governor said his position on nuclear energy in Ohio predated House Bill 6.

He said nuclear energy is the state's only non-carbon emitting option for electric power.

"We need balance in our energy and as much as we'd like to see forms of energy that are non-carbon, nuclear is where we get most of that today and certainly it's where you get most of it in the state of Ohio," said DeWine.

DeWine says having nuclear plants is a part of of a balanced balanced policy that Ohio needs.

He says over a thousand Ohio jobs would be lost if the nuclear plants were to be shut down.
