Girard Schools experimenting with disinfecting process

GIRARD, Ohio - Valley schools are preparing their buildings for students to return this fall and one, in particular, is experimenting with new methods of cleaning and sanitizing.
Girard's superintendent is having a local company called SecuRx Solutions spray a 90-day, "germ-free surface polymer" on their weight-room equipment.
The owner of the company says the special polymer keeps bacteria and other germs from sticking to surfaces.
Tim Shannon of SecuRx Solutions said, "RIGHT NOW PEOPLE ARE DISINFECTING HUNDREDS OF TIMES A DAY AND THAT ONLY LASTS ABOUT 10 MINUTES. THIS IS A 24/7 DISINFECTION. WE TEST IT WITH AN ATP METER WHICH GIVES YOU A BACTERIAL LOAD readout."
The superintendent says if testing of that equipment shows a continued decrease in germs over time, the district will purchase more of that disinfectant and spray throughout the buildings.
