The American Red Cross has an emergency shortage of convalescent plasma, which is plasma collected from a recovered COVID-19 patient. 

The Red Cross, in a press release, stated the demand for convalescent plasma has more than doubled in the last month as the number of corona virus is increasing across the state and around the nation.

The American Red Cross is asking anyone who has full recovered after receiving a verified COVID-19 diagnosis are urged to sign up and give plasma.

Convalescent plasma is collected from patients who have recovered from the virus and have antibodies that may help the infection. Each plasma donation may help up to three patients recover from the virus.

Appointments to donate ca be made by downloading the Blood Donor App, or by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or calling 1-800-733-2767.

Anyone who gives blood, platelets or plasma, including convalescent plasma from Aug. 1 through September 3 will receive a $5 Amazon gift card via email.

Anyone who wanting to donate must wear a mask, social distance, have your temperature taken at the location.
