Columbiana Co. reports 47 virus cases in last week, one death

The Columbiana County Health District reported Friday, Aug. 21, that the county has seen an increase of 47 cases since last Friday. Of the 47, two of those testing positive were inmates at the federal prison in Elkton, five are residents from long-term care facilities and 40 are community members.
The current total COVID-19 for Columbiana County is 1,763 cases, with 958 of the cases from within the federal prison at Elkton, 136 residnrt of long-tern care facilities and 669 are community members.
The county is also reporting a COVID-related death of a 66 year old male from a long-term care facility. There have been 63 virus-related deaths so far in the county, including 9 inmates at the federal prison, 37 people from nursing homes, and 17 community members.
To date, 1,606 COVID-19 positive residents have recovered of the possible 1,700 cases.
