Warren man involved in fatal Portage County crash

Troopers in Portage County are investigating a fatal crash out of Charlestown Township Saturday afternoon that injured a Warren man.
The two-vehicle crash happened just after 2:30 p.m. on State Route 5 just west of Rock Spring Road.
Troopers said a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 29-year-old Carlette Darby of Cleveland was westbound, while a 2001 Nissan Maxima driven by 22-year-old Anthony Naylor of Warren was eastbound.
The two struck head-on when Naylor went left of center briefly, causing the two to collide in the eastbound lanes after Darby took evasive action, according to troopers.
Essence Shaw, 22, of Cleveland, who was in the passenger seat of the Cobalt, died at the scene of the crash.
Troopers said she was not wearing a seat belt.
Both Darby and Naylor suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Troopers said neither was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
It is not clear if alcohol or drug impairment played a factor in the crash.
