HARRISBURG, Pa. - Eligible unemployed workers in Pennsylvania could receive an extra $300 weekly starting Monday.

According to the release, unemployment compensation claimants who apply and qualify for the federal Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) program will begin to receive the extra $300 weekly benefit as early as September 14.

Only individuals that are fully or partially unemployed due to COVID-19 disruptions can apply for the benefit according to federal guidelines for the LWA program.

To qualify for the extra $300, the LWA program requires that eligible people have a benefit rate and dependence allowance totaling $100 or more per week in benefits from one of the following programs:

  • Regular Unemployment Compensation (UC)
  • Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC)
  • Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)
  • Pennsylvania Extended Benefits (EB)
  • Shared Work or Short-Time Compensation (STC)
  • Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA)

Those receiving benefits from the programs with the exception of PUA and Shared Work will have to apply for LWA by certifying that their unemployment is due to COVID-19.

Those who may qualify for LWA and have not received payment should still apply as soon as possible.
