Warren mom pleads not guilty after son says she left them alone to follow 'rap career'

A Warren woman pleaded not guilty on Monday to four counts of child endangering after her son told authorities that she left him and his three siblings home alone to pursue a rap career.
Thirty-nine-year-old Leshay Myatt entered the pleas in Warren Municipal Court after she turned herself in on Monday.
As police were talking to the 12-year-old boy, his 9-year-old twin brother and sister, and 4-year-old brother, also arrived at the neighbor’s home.
The oldest boy told officers that his mother is pursuing a “rap career” and leaves the children at home for periods of up to 24 hours.
The 12-year-old said that he cooks meals and makes sure his younger brothers and sister complete their online schooling. He said he tried to call his mom to ask her to come home and she hung up.
The boy told police he then went to the neighbors for help.
When police say they tried to phone the mother, the call went directly to voicemail.
An agent from Trumbull County Children’s Services told police they already had opened a case on the family and took custody of the children.
Myatt is scheduled to appear in court again on October 27.
