Youngstown to host trunk-or-treat event instead of traditional trick-or-treating

YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown has opted to host a trunk-or-treat event instead of traditional trick-or-treating this year.
The city will be hosting a "Boo-Yah" drive-thru trunk-or-treat event at the Covelli Centre on October 31 from 4 to 7 p.m., Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown announced in a news release on Friday.
Vehicles will enter through the Covelli Centre's main entrance -- located off East Front Street -- and drive through a directed path while collecting treats from vendors.
Everyone attending, including those in vehicles, must wear a facial covering at all times.
Those interested in being a vendor must register.
Candy donations can be dropped off at the parks and recreation department at Youngstown City Hall, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The parks and recreation department, the health district and the ICU Block Watch Group of Youngstown created the event.
On Monday, Lordstown Village officials decided to cancel traditional trick-or-treating this year after the CDC issued guidance that urged against it.
