West Branch Warrior headed to national fishing championships

BELOIT, Ohio - A West Branch High School Sophomore who has been fishing since he was four-years-old is headed for a national competition later this month.
Garrett Dean, a member of the West Branch Student Fishing League, has reeled in a spot in the B.A.S.S. Master High School Series National Championship in Kentucky October 21-24.
Dean, who casts his lure in waterways including the Ohio River, Mosquito Lake, Deer Creek Reservoir, Lake Erie, and local farm ponds, has been in about a dozen tournaments.
His personal records include a four-pound largemouth bass and a 5.6-pound smallmouth bass.
The seasoned angler started fishing to accomplish something productive in his free time. He credits his success to his persistence in his practice, strategically focusing on patterns, switching up the bait, and having a great partner and boater coach.
Since 1968, B.A.S.S., the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society has been dedicated to enhancing the sport of bass fishing by advocating for access, conservation, and youth fishing.
