Former major league umpire John Hirschbeck had a great career spanning more than 30 years. Over that time he came in contact with a lot of great players associated with the game and was given special momentos from those moments.

From a signed baseball by former President Ronald Reagan to a whisk broom used in the world series, Hirschbeck has special items.

With the help of his son Michael, who passed away in 2014 from adrenoleukodystrophy the momentos are being auctioned off to benefit the Magic Of Michael Foundation.

"Michael had gotten a lot of jersey's and spikes from guys over the years," said John, when Michael traveled with him working games.

"He's probably rolling over in his grave watching me do this, "

With the help of two friends John realized it's the right thing to do.

"They told me Michael is gone, he can't use any of these things and keeping his memory and legacy alive. Look at all the children your going to help."

The Magic of Michael Foundation helps families in Northeast Ohio  "deal with the curveballs of life," and works with Akron Children's Hospital.

There are more than 800 items up for auction at bidcx.com and bidding continues until mid November.

Some of the items include a Michael Jordan signed line-up card to pieces of umpire equipment worn by Hirschbeck in historical games.

"There's some neat things that people would never think about that are one of a kind."

Hirschbeck has no personal feelings on the amount of money that can be raised, but added he would be "very- very" happy with $500.000.

"I think with this we hope and pray that the Magic of Michael continues forever and Michael's  legacy will continue to help people."
