Robins Theatre marquee posts message for Ryan after debate

WARREN, Ohio - A message on the marquee of the Robins Theatre has Warren buzzing.
The message says that Representative Tim Ryan had nothing to do with the restoration of the Robins Theatre.
Owner Mark Marvin said he put the message out because he took issue with a comment made by Congressman Ryan during Monday's 13th district Congressional debate.
"You go to downtown Warren because you can't just have jobs, you need quality of life. Packard Music Hall, Packard Car Museum, Riverwalk, Amphitheatre, Kinsman House - all public investments that led to private investment to renovate the Robins Theatre," said Ryan.
Marvin told 21 News that he felt like Ryan was trying to take credit for an investment he made and wants voters to know all the facts before they vote.
"To link public spending and public investments to private spending, primarily my private spending in downtown Warren - is absolutely inaccurate. I did not do this at all because of any public investment," said Marvin.
While Marvin says he is not a political person and is not registered to vote in this area, it is worth noting that he previously donated $2,800 to the campaign of Ryan's opponent, Christina Hagan on June 26, 2020. He also donated $750 to President Donald Trump's campaign on July 2nd, 2020.
The Ryan campaign says they have no comment on the sign and message, but provided the federal dollar amount for the projects Ryan mentioned in the debate.
$2,750,000 was provided for the National Packard Museum and Music Hall, $1,700,000 for Warren's Riverwalk and Amphitheater, $150,000 for the Kinsman House and $2,200,000 to renovate the Kresge Building for BRITE to move into.
