The Austintown Police Department have arrested Samuel Richard, 31, of Youngstown, Friday for a parole violation and Richard has since been charged in the shooting death of a man at the Compass West Apartments.

The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the victim from the Oct. 16 shooting as 32-year-old, Keylan Davis.

Richard is being held at the Mahoning County Jail.

The Austintown Police Department were called to a shooting at the Compass West Apartment complex at 1080 Compass West Drive at approximately 9:52 am Friday. 

When police arrived at the scene, they reported finding a Youngstown man who had been shot, laying on the sidewalk entrance of the apartment building. Police administered medical care until an ambulance arrived on the scene. There is no word on the victim's name. The police have confirmed the man has since died from his injuries.

Police said the victim was not a resident of the apartment complex. 

The police department also towed away an SUV from the scene with a bullet hole, and report a bullet hole was also found inside an apartment. Austintown Lt. Detective Jordan Yacovone said at least 3 shots were fired.

Yacovone said this is the first homicide to happen this year in Austintown.
