Haunted Houses, hayrides open through Halloween weekend

Mahoning Valley - Because of the pandemic, most haunted houses and hayrides had to change their safety guidelines to stay open. Earlier this season, we reported that Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (R) encouraged haunted houses and hayrides to close but did not require it.
Most haunted houses and hayrides in the Mahoning Valley continued to stay open despite Governor DeWine's advice.
Haunted house and hayride organizers were asked to pre-sell tickets to keep capacity down, eliminate all common areas and have hand sanitizer available.
Jim Meyers, director of the Canfield Scaregrounds, told 21 News the season has been very successful for customer turnout. The Scaregrounds had to change to presale tickets and now offers hand sanitizer and masks for guests. The main change included maintaining a social distance of six feet between the scarers and customers.
"The scarers have to stay 6 feet away from customers as they walk through the Scaregrounds," Meyers said. "It's been pretty successful all around."
