YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A dog that was found shot on Youngstown's east side is recovering at the Mahoning County Dog Pound.
The dog, now being called "Lamar", was found injured near Lamar and Oak Street Thursday.
Mahoning County Dog Warden Diane Fry told 21 News that Lamar was shot between the eyes and the bullet luckily missed his brain. He has an exit wound in his jaw from the bullet.
Lamar spent Thursday night at the veterinarian's office and is now at the Mahoning County Dog Pound recovering while vets figure out the next steps in his recovery.
The 2-year-old pup is also blind in his left eye due to the gunshot.
Fry told 21 News that Lamar has to go through a stray hold and probably will not be available for adoption for some time as he recovers from his injuries.
Friends of Fido has posted a fundraiser on Facebook for medical care for Lamar.
