Lordstown attracts new business, approves tax abatement for container manufacturer

A new business is looking into moving into the former Magna Seating which closed in 2018 after GM Lordstown announced its closing of their facility.
Lordstown Mayor Arno Hill said that M&M Industries, a manufacturer of containers for hazardous and non-hazardous solids and liquids, and graphic design headquartered in Chattanooga, Tenn., is looking at bringing 106 new jobs to the Valley.
The school board and council approved a 75 percent tax abatement for 15 years for the company, which had been asking for 100 percent originally.
"Lordstown and the surrounding community is some of the best part of America," said Glenn Morris, President and CEO of M&M Industries. "The people are solid and there's a handshake mentality."
Hill said these new companies are steps in the right direction to replenish the jobs of the GM plant.
Monday night, council also approved a water service agreement with the city of Niles.
