North Jackson, Cortland, Salem stand out on new COVID-19 Zip Code map

COLUMBUS, Ohio - State health officials are offering a new tool to help Ohioans gauge the extent of COVID-19 spread in their neighborhood.
A newly launched ZIP Code Dashboard displays the most recent preliminary data on Coronavirus reported to the Ohio Department of Health about cases and case rates per 100,000 population by ZIP Code of residence.
ODH says it is making COVID-19 data available for public review while also protecting patient privacy. This dashboard will be updated daily.
The public can now view data from their local communities and filter data by probable or confirmed case status, county, a specific zip code, or a specific period of time.
To protect confidentiality, case counts for zip codes with fewer than five cases or less than 100 total residents will not be displayed.
As of Friday, November 13, 2020, the dashboard showed the greatest number of local cases during the most recent two-week period in the Boardman area. The 44512 zip code recorded 107 cases.
Coming in second in the Valley is Austintown, with 99 cases reported in the 44515 zip during the recent two-week span.
The 44483 zip code zone in Champion and the North Side of Warren had 96 cases. Howland and Southeast Warren’s 44484 zip code had 93 cases.

The interactive map also allows users to view per capita cases, which may give a better perspective on the concentration of the pandemic in their area.
Topping the per capita COVID-19 rankings in the Valley over the past two weeks is Jackson Township in Mahoning County where the 44451 zip code recorded 568 cases per 100,000 population.
The Cortland-Bazetta 44451 zip came in second with 523 cases per 100K.
Salem and surrounding areas covered by the 44490 zip code ranks third with 516 cases per one thousand population.
