Mahoning juvenile court: Teen allegedly overpowered guard, escaped detention

The U.S. Marshals are assisting in the search for a teenager who allegedly overpowered a guard and scaled a barbed-wire fence to escape from the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center on Sunday.
Edward Thomas, Jr., 15, is one of three teenagers accused in the plot. Thomas was being held on a felony charge of improperly discharging a firearm at a habitat or school.
Thomas is described as being five feet tall with brown eyes and black hair and weighs approximately 115 pounds.
The other two involved in the escape are now in custody.
One of the teens involved, Brandon Crump, was caught before making it outside of the facility. Crump is charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the Struthers robbery that led to the shooting death of 4-year-old Rowan Sweeney. Prosecutors plan to file a motion asking that Crump's case be bound over to adult court.
The other teenager involved in the escape, Deshaun Douglas, had been being held on breaking and entering charges. Douglas was arrested Monday by the Marshals and the Mahoning county sheriff's department near the WRTA station in downtown Youngstown.
The Marshals are asking anyone with information on where Thomas may be to call 1-866-4WANTED and say tips can be called in anonymously.
