Youngstown men accused of kidnapping woman outside Liberty motel
Two Youngstown men are in the Trumbull County jail accused of abducting, robbing, and assaulting a woman at a Liberty Township motel.
Larry Burgess, 31, and Marques White, 34, are charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and aggravated assault.
Police say they found a 37-year-old woman who was bleeding, crying, and yelling. She told police she was walking in the Station Square parking lot along Belmont Avenue late Tuesday when one of two men in a car grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the car.
The woman said the men dragged her into a room at the nearby Rodeway Inn, where she said she was raped, beaten, choked, and robbed of $120.
The victim told police she escaped from the room, knocking on other motel doors and windows, screaming for help. One witness told police he saw a man with a gun chasing the woman.
After spotting two men fitting the suspect’s description at a gas station in Niles, a deputy called Liberty police spotted two men.
Police say they found two handguns in the car. One of the guns had been reported as stolen.
They also found a digital scale, white powder, a box of hypodermic needles, condoms, and a white hoodie with blood droplets.
Burges and White were arraigned in Girard Municipal Court, where the bond for each was set at $250,000.
Another hearing for each of the men is set for Wednesday.
Additional charges are expected to be filed pending lab results on some of the evidence.
